I actually bought a laptop with Windows 10 to have the newest operating system & sent it back a week later as I just hated it. Yes Willy it well could have been the heat that shut it down. What a scam and we all fall for it. I wanted to do a clean install of my Win7-Ultimate(64) to upgrade a computer to Win10, while I still could.

well 6 hours later it's still the same!!!! But the "Windows Update Diagnostic" repaired these errors, and thus allowed the updates recommended here to install properly. I have seen some viruses block updates.
